Cattleman’s Roadhouse operates a total of 10 restaurants, with 9 located in Kentucky and 1 in Indiana. Situated in the vicinity of Morehead, this dining establishment is conveniently just a 30-minute drive from my grandmother’s residence. Our initial intention was to have a meal at Cattleman’s Roadhouse and then visit my grandmother for a while. However, unforeseen circumstances arose as we discovered that she has contracted COVID-19. In light of this, we made a quick stop at Walmart to purchase some soups for her and promptly delivered them to her.
When we arrived at Cattleman’s, it became apparent that the establishment was newly constructed. The scent of fresh wood permeated the air. We were promptly greeted by the staff and directed to a comfortable booth. The ambiance of the restaurant struck a balance between being dimly lit and adequately bright. Our server, Courtney, efficiently took our beverage order and swiftly delivered them to our table. As we perused the menu, I opted for my usual choice of Dr Pepper while Jennifer requested a glass of water along with a visually stunning Frozen Strawberry Margarita. The Margarita proved to be exceptionally delightful and exceeded Jennifer’s expectations.
As a starter, we opted for the Tobacco Onion Basket, which can be described as crispy and flavorful onion strings. Accompanying this dish was a tangy horseradish-based sauce that appealed to both of our palates. Shortly after devouring the appetizer, we were presented with a delightful basket of rolls, served with a delectable spread of cinnamon-infused butter. These rolls boasted a perfectly crispy crust, without being overcooked, and proved to be a delightful combination with the fragrant cinnamon butter.
For the main course, I opted for a Black and Bleu Sirloin accompanied by White Cheddar Mac & Cheese. The 7 oz sirloin was generously topped with delectable pieces of bleu cheese. The piquant taste of the cheese complemented the steak remarkably well, and the steak itself was flawlessly cooked to medium, a rarity. As for the mac and cheese, it was enjoyable but not particularly notable. Jennifer, on the other hand, decided on the Sirloin Tips served with a baked potato. The tips were cooked to perfection, exhibiting tenderness and juiciness. The mushrooms were seasoned skillfully and cooked to Jennifer’s preference, although the onions could have used a bit more cooking time. While her baked potato was satisfactory, it was not a stand out item.
To cap off the evening, we indulged in a delectable Molten Lava Cake, which happens to be one of my preferred desserts. The cake was quite satisfactory, though I must remark that it could have benefited from a slightly more generous amount of luscious “lava”.
The dining experience was delightful at the newly established restaurant. The establishment was conveniently located and displayed great potential upon first glance. The extensive selection of dishes on the menu caught my attention. The restroom facilities were well-maintained; however, they were positioned at opposite ends of the restaurant.

Obviously there are multiple ways to go cheaper at this restaurant. Jennifer and I often share 1 meal. There were also lunch specials and lower priced items. But for a steakhouse we felt the prices on everything were very fair.
